How to choose an endoscope camera module?

1. Dimensions of endoscope camera module

The outer diameter of the lens is an important parameter for the selection of industrial endoscopes, and it is also the first condition to pay attention to when selecting endoscopes.

At present, the outer diameter of the smallest camera produced by EZON is only 0.65mm, and the largest size is 14mm. There are other specifications 1.05, 1.8, 2.0, 3.3, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6, 7, 8, etc., with comprehensive specifications and sizes.

2. The lens focal length and field of view angle of the endoscopic camera module

According to the distance from the endoscope to the monitored target, after the focal length of the lens of the endoscope camera module is selected and the focal length f of the lens is determined, the field of view is determined by the target surface of the endoscope. Customers need to combine the application environment of the product to determine the field of view of the lens used. Larger viewing angles have a larger viewing range and a larger depth of field range. Small viewing angles cannot observe close-up objects, and the starting point is above 30mm.

3. The aperture or light transmission of the endoscope camera module

The light flux of the endoscope is measured by the ratio of the focal length of the lens of the camera module to the clear aperture, marked with F, and each lens is marked with its maximum F value, and the light flux is proportional to the square of the F value Inversely proportional relationship, the smaller the F value, the larger the aperture. Therefore, you should choose to use manual aperture or automatic aperture lens according to the degree of light change in the monitored part.

4. The lens resolution of the endoscopic camera module

The resolution of the lens refers to the ability of the lens to reproduce the details of the object. Also known as resolution or clarity. It refers to the ability of the optical system to distinguish the minimum distance between two object points or two image points on the image plane, and it is also one of the quality indicators for evaluating the optical system. The higher the resolution of the lens, the better it can express the most subtle differences in the image. For a digital camera with a higher frame factor, higher resolution is more difficult to achieve. This is because the distance between the photosensitive elements is also very small in the case of a small sensor area.

Due to the small size of endoscopes, the resolutions are mostly 720p and 1080p, and the mainstream chips of endoscope modules are OV9734, OV2740, OV6946, OV6930, etc.

5. Cable length: from 1 meter, 2 meters or longer

6. Signal output port: such as USB2.0 or type C

7. Light source: the number of LEDs required, such as 2 LEDs, 4 LEDs, and 6 LEDs. It is necessary to consider the temperature requirements at the same time, for example, the temperature is lower than 50 degrees after 10 minutes of continuous operation.

In addition to the above basic information, the medical camera module also needs to consider the anti-fog treatment of the lens, gamma sterilization, IP67 and other performance.

After the above 7 elements are clarified, the prototype of the endoscopic camera module can be preliminarily designed. EZON can tailor the endoscopic camera module that best meets the application requirements according to the needs of customers.
