This embedded global shutter camera is purpose-built for dexterous robotic hands, specifically designed to facilitate eye-in-hand coordination at the robot's end-effector. It effectively eliminates the "jello effect" (rolling shutter distortion), image warping, and localization inaccuracies that typically occur during high-speed grasping or rapid finger movement. Featuring an ultra-lightweight, compact design, the camera can be integrated directly into the palm or wrist. It enables close-range object recognition, pose estimation, grasp verification, and data collection for imitation learning-making it an ideal solution for five-fingered dexterous hands, humanoid robots, and the end-effectors of collaborative robotic arms.
Product Structure
his global-shutter camera for robotic dexterous hands is an integrated, end-mounted vision module. It consists of five primary components: an optical lens assembly, a global-shutter image sensor, a DSP (Digital Signal Processor), an LED ring light, and an FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) cable. Its structure is specifically optimized for the constrained installation space within a dexterous hand.

Optical Lens Assembly
Features a wide-angle lens with a FOV150° and a short focal length. It comes factory-calibrated for distortion correction, making it well-suited for the close-range operational environment of a dexterous hand.

Global-Shutter Sensor Unit
Equipped with an industrial-grade global-shutter CMOS sensor capable of high-speed operation at 120 fps. By exposing all pixels simultaneously, it eliminates the "jello effect" (rolling shutter distortion) during high-speed motion.

DSP Data Processor
Includes an integrated image signal processor that performs hardware-level white balance, exposure adjustment, and noise reduction. It supports multiple output formats, including YUV and MJPEG.

LED Ring Light
Comprises four high-brightness, low-power LEDs arranged in a ring. The adjustable brightness helps the system handle low-light conditions or reflective objects, ensuring reliable recognition even in industrial environments with unstable lighting.
he lens and controller are connected via a 15cm-long flexible printed circuit (FPC) cable, which allows for a better fit within the structure of a dexterous hand and simplifies the installation process.

Performance Advantages

1. Global Shutter Imaging
Captures motion without distortion. Unlike standard rolling-shutter cameras, it ensures that even during rapid movements of a dexterous hand-such as high-speed finger opening, closing, or grasping-the image remains free from skew or warping. This provides accurate and reliable object pose coordinates, significantly increasing grasping success rates and ensuring high-quality datasets for imitation learning.
With a lens size of only 6×6 mm, the compact form factor integrates seamlessly into dexterous hand structures, meeting the critical need for weight reduction at the end-effectors of humanoid robots.
Optimized for the operational range of dexterous hands, the system features a Depth-of-field of 8–30 mm, delivering clear, high-precision imaging at close proximity-ideal for tasks like parts sorting, small-component assembly, and delicate manipulation. Its wide field of view covers the entire grasping area of the hand, minimizing blind spots.
Designed for industrial environments, the system offers broad-temperature operational capability and high vibration resistance, making it well-suited for long-term laboratory testing and the iterative development of robot prototypes.
